Painter, sculptor, muralist, filmmaker and print maker, Pepe Damaso is one of the most prolific artists to emerge from the Canary Islands –he was born in Gran Canaria-. Damaso was trained at the School of Arts, Madrid, Circulo de Bellas Artes and Santa Isabel de Hungría School of Arts, Seville. His works have been shown at Madrid’s Circulo de Bellas Artes, Paris’ Instituto Cervantes or the New York’s Spanish Institute. In addition to having exhibited his works at major galleries, foundations and museums, Damasco was credited as the Artistic Director of the Pavilion on the Canary Islands, in the Expo 1992, Seville, Spain. Among his films, his Trilogy of Agaete, formed by LA UMBRÍA (1975), RÉQUIEM PARA UN ABSURDO (1979) and LA RAMA (COLLAGE) (1988), stands out as his major accomplishment.
